The miners on strike in South Wales by a two to one majority! accepted the terms of the proprietors, who agree to an immediate advance i of 5 per cent, above the wages pre- j viously current. This advance will be fixed under an agreement for four years unless the wages under the sliding scale fall 12& per cent below those of 1890. Strong opposition is still offered to the employers' proposal for the abolition of ■ Mabon's Day — the monthly holiday. The question has been left to the deoision of a provisional committee. It is estimated the strike has cost the district seven millions sterling.
