THE WILDE CASE.
(PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, April 5. Osoar Wilde has been arrested. April 6. Oscar Wilde publishes a letter stating that he abandoned the case in order to avoid placing Lord Douglas in tbs witness box. After the warrant bad been issued for Wilde's arrest the police detained three essential witnesses. Lord Douglas and two men remained in conference with Wilde at the Viaduct Hotel, Holborn. for several hours after tbe trial, and looobed together in a private room. Subsequently they drove. to a bank, where Wilds with drew a large sum of money. He was then loßt sight of until arrested in tbe evening at an hotel in Sloane street. Lord Douglas was muoh distressed when he found ha was unable to bail him ont. After the trial the Marquis of Qaeeneberry sent Wilde a message stating that he would shoot him if he took bis son abroad. Taylor has also been arrested, and will be charged in conjunction with Wilde. Tbs latter's name bas been withdrawn from the playbills of tbe London and American theatres. April 7. Wilde ' was remanded till Thursday. Bail was net allowed. PARIS, April 7. Parisian society is petrified at Wilde's exposure. -
