Charge Against a Publican.
(PER PEESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, June 5. . W. H. Saundew, licensee of an hotel at Johnsonville, was charged to-day with refusing to give a bed to a man who asked for lodging and offered payment. Mr Martin, S.M., deferred judgment till Satnrday. He intimated that, in his opinion, a 'refusal to reoeive people who coald pay was one of the most serious offences a .publioan oonld be guilty of. He intended to take oate that rooms were not kept for ihovp and hotels rnn as mere drinking Bbops. He also bioted that if jadgment was advorße the Buburb'an aommittee woald probably take away tbe lioense.
