THE VICTORIAN LOAN.
(per press association.)
LONDON, September 27.
It is Bftid that little of the Viotorian loan was converted, as there was some dimoalty of notifying debenture-holders owing to ignorance oi the addresses of tht latter. The debenture-holders threaten the bank with prooeedings for closinj? before they had a ohance of converting. Th« bank etateß that it rigidly adhered to the prospectus, and was surprised at the •access of the loan ; otherwise it wouldbave been »n earlier dosing date. About £40,000 additional were subscribed yesterday. The Times assertß that before the pros* peottu was issued a syndicate fa»d arranged to take a million sterling, on consideration that the Hats were dosed when the Amount was subscribed, and that the brokers aoting for the banks reserved the balance, depriving debenture-holders of the promised advantage.
