Several violent scenes have taken place in the Chamber of Deputies. M. M. De'roulede and Millevoye repeatedly aocused M. Clemenceau of taking bribes from Dr Herz. Clemenceau retorted by calling his accusers cowards and liars. A duel is impending. The chamber heard M. Clemenceau's explanation with coldness. A dispute oocurred at a bullfight in the amphitheatre at Nimis. The populace became excited, and a riot ensued, during which many perßons were injured. LONDON, June 20. Viscount Wolseley, speaking in Dublin, declared the Australian bareback riding in sections was the finest he had ever beheld. WASHINGTON, June 20. The Bank of New Hanover, Wilmington, has failed. President Cleveland has decided to anticipate the payment of September interest in Government bonda so as to alleviate tightness of money. The coroner's jory hold the Government officers responsible for the deaths caused by the collapse of the Old Fords theatre, whioh was used as a pension office. SYDNEY, June 21. The recent floods have so silted up the MaoLeay river, that it is expected it will take twelve months to make the river navigable except for vessels of the lightest draught. MELBOURNE, June 20. A ballot of the Seamens' Union on the question oi the reduction ot wages by shipowners continues. It is not expected that the result of the inter-colonial balloting will be known before Friday. Mr Guthrie, secretary of the Adelaide branch of the Seamens' Union, is endeavoring to induce shipowners to appoint a conference with the men. When His Honor, Mr Justice Holyrod, took his seat in the Criminal Court to-day for the purpose of charging the Grand Jury in the Mercantile bank cases, Mr Gaunson on behalf of Mr F. Millidge, objeoted to both bills of indictment, which he characterised as illegal. He aeked His Honour to take a note that the Grand Jury was unknown to Australian law. Mr Justice Holyrod decided that one bill, that of false balance sheets should be rejected, but ruled against Mr Gaunson with regard to the bill containing a charge of conspiracy, and proceeded to charge the jury that point.
