INQUEST AT TE ROT.

An inquest was held on Monday, at T§ Boti, before Mr 0. E. Major, J.P., acting as coroner, touching the death, on Satnr* day last, of Lily Agnes Kelly, aged one year and ten months old. Tbe jury was composed of Henry Stuart, Williana Cleaver, Jesse Barrow, Charles Btaart, George Boache, and Denis O'Mahoney. Constable Salmon conduoted tbe pro* ceedings. Mrs Kelly, mother of tbe child, stated tbat tbe child wag apparently not very ill, bnt she purged her, gave her a wormM powder, and on tbe morning of her de»tb^ g&ve her a dose of castor oil. John Cleaver, farmer, was present at tbe oeatb, and considered all precautions were taken to save the' child's life, and thattbero was no neglect. Patriok O'Connor, farmer, saw tbe child a quarter of an hour before death; she was ill, bnt able to eat. Michael Kelly, father of tbe child, stated that o.n Friday morning it was very cold, and tbe child was peevish. At 8 on Saturday moaning he got np and gave the child and its mother some tea. The child grew worse, and at 7 p.m. he went for the doctor, but on returning bt found the child dead. He had bad children worse without calling a doctor ; and tbere was nothing in' the child's symptoms tofillness to cause him to think she wat" seriously, ill. ' t)r. Westenra said tbe; obild was well nourisneil, and there were no symptoms to Show" that death occurred from other than? natural causes. From the evidenceand the statements of tbe parents, fie should judge tbat death was caused by enteritis. The jury found tbat the caose of death' was inflammation of tbe bowels.
