THE VANCOUVER MAIL.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, Juno 6, ! Replying to Mr Hogan in the Hones of j Commons, Sir Ughtred Kay-Shuttlewortb, Secretary to the Adtniralts, said tbat when the Huddart- Parker line of steamers between Canada and Australia had been proved to be a permanent service, the Admiralty would reconsider the question of granting a subvention. At present, however, they were not prepared to render any assistance. Sir Chae. Tupper, Higb Commissioner for Canada, has cabled to the Premier of New South Wales, urging tbe latter's cooperation in bringing pressure to bear on the Imperial Government to grant a subsidy to Huddart, Parker and Co.'s Australian and Vancouver Steam .Service. It is understood that tbe Government* refusal to place on tbe Estimates a vote for the service is due to the fact that the Australian colonies have not subsidised the line.
