The London board heartily approve the recoustruotion soheme of the Batik of Victoria.
The Times says that Australia has a splendid future before it in the matter of produce. Exports ; now are roo3, but, with the prospeot of new markets, trade will soon be of enormous magnitude.
SYDNEY, May 26
Tbe Premier has received, through the Agent-General, expression of sympathy from the Cape Government with the colonies in their financial troubles, and asking if they coald do an\ thing to restore public confidence either by the purchase of Victorian and New South Waleu stock in the open market or in an unissued loan. Sir Andrew Clark and Sir Saul Samuel replied thanking the Cape Government for the offer, which they stated it was expedient to decline, as the market was improving. Sir George Dibbs also cabled to Capetown expressing appreciation for sympathy and offer. The reading of tbe communication from the Cape Government was received with cheers in the Legislative Assembly.

Tbe Governor's speech in connection with the openiDg of Parliament referred to the necessity for immediately calling Parliament together. Consequent upon the financial convulsions, a measure would be introduced to relieve financial pressure and place currency oo a sounder footing. Next year's revenue wonld require careful consideration ; the revenue mast be increased and expenditure decreased. The Bugar industry wqb in a prosperous state, and the frozen meat trade was being firmly 'established. Re ference was made in tbe epeeob to the necessity of patting capital and labor in the colony on a more satietactory footing,
