Tbe Almanao ia a complete compendium of , every information suitable to the requirements of tbe settler, and as Bach should find a place in every household.'— Waimate Witness. Once again we have to acknowledge the receipt of this much valued publication, and to congratulate the publishers on issuing: so useful a book. Tear by year the Stab Az_taitac has increased in size and usefulness, until it has now, besides being a capital almanac and directory, become a complete settlers' guide and companion. An additional 71 pages have been added to the book during the past year. Considering the extent of country embraced by the directory, the information contained ia surprisingly correct. Nothing is more convincing of the astonishing progress the districts extending from the White Cliffs to Foxton are making than a perusal of the Almanao and Directory for this year. In addition to the ordinary calendar, diary, and directory, a lot of information is given regarding the rainfall, statistics of the Registrars of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, and a gardener's calendar. Fall information regarding the Police, R.M^Jistrict, and Supreme Courts, Gxxatom House, deceased persons' estate^ duties, and Wanganui EdncationJDiatrict is also given., Under the of "The Farm" are very yrfnable agricultural notee. Fishing anvshooting regulations are also published. The Postal and Telegranfc Gaidenlso contains some very full andwaloaby information. Sporting men will find /lot of useful records of all the irincipA racing events. A compendiuni of Btttistics invaluable to settlers islalaofto be found, containing a digest olthe Fencing Act, the Cattle.and Sheep .Atß,lhe Dog Registration Act, Fencing b.c<l Amendment, etc. Information rl Blimp duties, Public Trußt Office, CroW grants, and a mass of New Zealand alp Australian statistics of considerable interest and value are also to be found. The business people of the district have also given the book a generoaß support, and as an advertising medium tbe book is yearly becoming more and more valuable. The general get-up, the letter-press, and arrangement of the volume is exceedingly creditable to the Star office and all connected with its publication. The almanac is one the whole district may feel proud of.— Stratford Settler. One of the most useful Almanacs and West Coast directories is that published by Messrs Innes and Co., of the Star Office, Hawera. This annual production has considerably increased in size. In 1891 it consisted of 280 pages. This This year we notice it has 420 pages, It is full of information of value to the country settler, and is one of the best and cheapest shilling's worth in the colony. — Marton Mercury. We have to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of a copy of tbe Hawbea Stab Almanac for 1893. Year by year this publication increases in value while published at the eatne crice. Tbe present issue consists of " nearly 300 pages o£ valuable information of everyday requirement, not the least of which is a carefully compiled directory of the coast and intermediate centres from Palmerston North to New Plymouth. It is however, beyond possibility to give, anything like an epitome of its contents as they are far too numerous and varied for mention, and we must content ourselvep in saying that the man who is without a copy has overlooked the best investment on the coast.— Patea Press.
