The Hospital Movement.

A meeting of tbe General Committee formed to carry out the exhibition in aid of the hospital fund was beld on Friday evening, when there were present — Messrs Major (in the chair), Caplen, Babbage, Brunptte, Brodriok, Milmoe, W. A. Parkinson, Bobbins, Davidson, O'Connell, and Barton. , Among tbe correspondence was a letter from Mr Milmoe, enclosing 'cheque for £50, half of bis contribution, and stating that tbe balance would be forwarded in due course. The letter was received with applause, and a vote of thanks to Mr Milmoe was recorded, the Mayor remarking that it was a pity there were not more such wealthy and publio spirited citizens. <

Mr Bobbins reported that, in response to an invitation, Mr Heslop and he bad waited on the Normanby Town Board; and had explained the objects of tbe exhibition. T-ha deputation ■ was very cordially reoeived, and warm assistance promised.

It was deoided tbat ciroulars be issued and assistance invited from all and sundry. On behalf of the industries committee, Mr. Brunette reported tbat promises of assistance bad-been received' from Messrs. Turnbull & Co.,,_who bad also promised a free supply of tea for refreshment purposes ; it was also stated that Mr. Oldbam of Patea would send an exhibit of meats, and at tbe end if the exhibition allow them to be sold for the benefit 01 ' the fund 8.

able to acoep.t an invitation to be present. It was resolved to convene a meeting of ladies,. and ask them to take an interest in the exhibition, the Mayor ana the Town Clerk being-deputed to-meet them. The secretary was requested to write re railway arrangements and various other matters.

It was resolved that tbe general committee meet every Friday evening. A notice of motion was given by Mr. Caplen for next meeting in favour ot tbe exhibition being beld in the Drill Hall, the Town Hall to be used for entertainments, &c, in connection with the exhibition.
