A CHARGE OF MURDER.

It is expected tbe arresc of one Smith, for larceny as a bailee in Wellington, ■ New Zealand, will clear np the mysterious disappearance of Jacobsen, at Pabiatua, two years ago. PAHIATUA., February 8. The man hamed Aldridge, alias Smith, who has been arrested in Melbourne for larceny of goods belonging to his mate Jacobaen, is a widower with tbree children, who resided at Danevirke until about thtee years ago. He will be charged with murdering Jacobßen when he is brought back to Pabiatua. Constable Cooper leaveo for Melbourne on Friday next to identify , Aldridge. The men were engaged bnsbfelling on Hambrooke' property at Eketabuna when Jacobsen disappeared. Ever since, foul play has ! been suspeoted, and a few weeks ago Jacobßen's remains were found by Const. Goopsr and an acting deteotive, who bad been sent up to investigate tbe case. The j discovery was kept secret until Aldridge's , whereabouts were ascertained, wbeu a - charge of larceny was preferred againßt - him, evidence having been obtained of his disposing of goods known to have belonged to Jacobsen. <
