I also notice tbat the kerbing at the railway station is getting very rotten in places and wonld be all tbe better for some new planking. The school opened again on the 24th instant, bnt the attendance, be* not vat reached tbat of last quarter. The Town Boird are having tbe stampe removed from Wallsoourt PUce between the orossiog near Mr. Hnsliman'i and the crossing at tbe extension. Thii will be a convenienea to a great many, and will relieve the main road of a considerable amonnt of traffic between thorn two places. Mr. C. Paine left for Wanganni this mornioß to attend the Education Board as a deputation from the Normanby School Committee on school matters. Messrs. Hurley and Bridge also visited the school this morning with a view of reporting on the same to the Board. Bteps are being taken, both here and ai Eltham and Stratford, to form a committee to collect signatures to the testimonial to be given to Dr. Lightbonrne. January 80.
