STAR C.C. v. MANAIA C.C.
Tbe Stars (Hawera) played Manaia 0.0. on Satarday, being fortunate in obtaining a fine day. Manaia won the toss, and deoided to put the visitors in first. The Stars had lost 7 wickets for 89 runs, when R. Lncena went in, but soon loeinghis partner was joined bv his brother (W. Luoena), when, having got hold of tbe bowling and making hits for twos, threes, and four, they quickly made 33 runs between them, and thus brought the score up to 63. R. Lucena was caught behind the wickets, and the innings closed for 66. Manaia faced the bowling of-Sontbey and R. Luoena, and were quickly disposed of by them for 16 runs. Tbe Stars again went in, and were all put out for 30. In their second innings, Manaia put together 18 runs. The Stars thus won by 62 runs. The ground was so parohed and bumpy that no one could bat with any. confidence, which accounts for tbe small scores made. The visitors were very well treated, having dinner on tbe ground, and tea at Host Lewis' after the game was over. Following are scores, etc.:— Stab* Ist innings. 2nd innings.
