A SERIOUS COMPLAINT AGAINST WAITARA.

-•♦- A great deal of dissatisfaction has been caused io this district by tbe receipt of iutelligeace that the Maori, whioh left Waitara this week, failed to take wool and batter which had been forwarded to that port for shipment this month. The only explanation that we have heard of is that some alteration in arrangements led to tbe Maori taking the place of the Otautau, and that she could not accommodate tbe freight offering. But this is very poor consolation to exporters, who not unnaturally comment on the fact that tbe steamer took the company's meat. This is not the first time tbat the same thing has happened, and we have no doubt tbat it will greatly injure Waitara as a shipping port in the estimation of settlers and exporters.
