Lord Bnrford arrived here last night, having ridden from Napier against time. He made a bet of .£BOO with Proffitt, the bookmaker, that he would do the distance in. 60 hours, and by arriving at 7 p.m. he Won the wager.

Henry Mason, a sailor of the Vienna, wab drowned in the inner harbor. He got entangled in a boat rope.
