CRICKET.
STAES (HAWERA) v. NEW PLYMOUTH.
The Stars added another trophy to their belt by a viotory over New Plymouth on Tuesday, although the advantage was slight. The New Plymouth men were perhaps the strongest team the Stars have met this year, including good bowling and battiog talent, but somewhat weak as to fielding. Rowlioson, Cunningham, and Attrill played very good cricket, but the highest scorer was Morey, who had very good luck. For the Stars V. Elliott came off with batting honors. When the last man (Southey) went in there were 8 runs to get, and the chances seemed to be in favor of the visitors, hut the skipper kept up his wioketß, and Victor got the required runs, and won the match. In the second attempt New Plymonth had lost 9 wickets for 49 runs.
