Some days ago John Allan, a miner at Home Eule, pielced from a. heap of stone close to the fuddling machine, a nugget of gold weighing 25| ounces. A northern paper asserts that a resident of Dunedin, on a holiday trip to Melbourne, fell a prey to .confidence men, who eased him of J6500. He has -returned to New Zealand, and vows that he has paid . ' his last visit to Australia. Whilst a bull fight was in progress at Cfaorta, in Spain, a policeman entered the arena, and approaching one of the bull-fighters stabbed him several times in the chest, in the presence, of hundreds of spectators. The injured man did not fall ; and, pressing his hands to the wounds to prevent blood flowing, was trying to walk from the ring, when the bull knocked him down and gored him to death. "When his corpse was recovered it was found that he had received seventeen wounds.
