AUSTRALIAN HORSES IN INDIA,
The following speoial cable appears in the Sydney Morning Herald of December 27 :—
CALOUTTA, December 26.
At, the Galoutta races to-day the leading event, the Viceroy's Cup, wfa, one mile and threequarters, was won by tbe Australian horse Highborn, by Grandmaster from Her Ladyßhip. The Herald adds the following information in a footnote :— Highborn, who on many occasions carried the well-known colors of Mr. William Forrester to the front, and who made suoh a strong bid for the Melbourne Cup, 1891, was purchased some six months ago on behalf of tbe Indian sportsman, the Maharajah of Coooh Bebar, and left for his new destination shortly afterwaids. The Viceroy's Cup as tbe name indicates, is a oup value 100 soys. presented by the Excellency the Viceroy of India, with 10,000 rupees from tbe funds of the Caloutta Turf Club, added to a starting sweepstake of 150 rupees, second horse to receive 1500 rupees, and tbe third horse 1000 rupees from the prize, one mile and threequarters. The entrants for the event numbered 16, including the Australian horses Camillas, Drummer Boy, Tribune, Good Hope, Myall King, Eingmaster, Bepnaal, Tantallon, Whim* brel, Moorbouse, Biverina, and Savant.
