(FSOM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.} A very enjoyable dance took place last evecmg in the Town Hall. About thirty couples were present. The following wera among the dancers: — Miss M. Gwynne, Gipsy Queen; Miaa M. Bayley, lattte 80-peep ; Mies Elsie Bayly, one of the maids of Mikado; Misses Gwynne (2), Walker (2), Licbtwark, King, M. Brett, Dockery, O. Crocker, Olemoe, and Hall, and Mesdames G. V. Bate and P. Bayly, evening dress; Messrs. R. Parkinson, Gunthorp, and Syme, Cricketers; P. Meredith. Italian Boatman; C. Painei Naval Officer ; C. Liohtwark, C. Stewart, Major, Matheson, W. Delamore, Riddle, W. Gibson, T. Hall, and others, evening dress. The hall was very tastefully I decorated, and tbe music supplied by Messrs. Hamerton and Aitehison, of Patea, was of tho best. The belle — well, it's bard to say ; even lam wavering between two, but as one was in fancy and tha other in evening dress, I will give them both— Miss M. Bayley and MiBS Gwynne. The school children are hard at work preparing for their concert on tbe 23rd, and most thoroughly do the little ones enjoy the preparation. It ia to be hoped their efiorts will be crowned jwith soooesf, and tbat this year the weather will prove propitious. The programme will shortly be published. I regret to say that Mr. J. Coleman, while away at Kaponga, was taken sen* oußly ill a few days since, and oontinues too ill to be removed home. Mr. Barry, whose accident was mintiooed ia the Star a short time since, still lies in a most precarious state in the New Plymouth Hospital. Mr. J. Crocker, who broke his collar bone a few weeks baok, is recovering, but still carries his arm in a sling. The Normanby Sports Committee have this year a good subscription list, which, 1 8ee, continues to fill up. The committee should all attend on Monday night at the meeting; and competitors should remem. ber tbat nominations must be in the hands of the secretary by 8 p.m. on Saturday next, the 10th ; alto, tenders for booths, etc. December Brd.
