OTAKEHO.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.!

Since last I wrote the Otakeho school

was _ examined, the results which you published a few days ago showing very fair work for the past year. The aohool was only opened again yesterday, as Mr. Honore was seriously ill last week and unable to perform his duties.

I notice that Mr. Fitten is poshing ahead with his contract of the new cburoh building.

Other improvements are also going on round this locality, and the local contractor, Mr. J. Ryan, is up to his eyes in work, having the Ratanui and Awatuna schools, besides the erection of- buildings for Mr. Bqunett, Skeet road, on band ; ia fact, men of every trade and occupation are as busy as can be here at the present time, and there seems to be little lack of work and good wages for willing hands.

Still another accident to report. Mr. S. E. Corry was driving home in his trap a few days ago, when the borse became restive, capsized (he trap, and turned the owner heavily on to the road. I beat that two ribs are broken. A dootor haa been in attendance.

AJPahiatua man, it is said, has scoured the carriage of mails between Hawera and Opunake ; but it is understood that satisfactory arrangements are being made by which Mr. Spence wifl still be the 11 Cobb and Co." of this section.

The latter is now nearly recovered from the effects of his recent accident.

The country round here never before looked so well, and the cry of the cattleowners will shortly be " too much feed." Tuesday.
