Mr. Bridge moved the resolution Btand- , ing in hiß name, " That a committee be appointed to inquire into the best mode of , dealiog with the large number of junior . assistants in the service of the board." .■ The motion was seconded by Mr. Fry and v ferried, the Exeoutive, with Mr. Bridge added, to be the committee. THE BOAP.D'3 FUNDS. Mr. Oareon moved, That in view of tbe reduced amount received lot building purposes, this board is compelled to made the following representation to the head o( th» Government: Thai settlement is extending moie rapidly and extensively oh tbil West Coast than in any other part of New Zealand : that tbe consequent urgent demand for school buildings if altogether beyond tbe power of the board with its reduced means to overtake'; that in order to supplement a , totally inadequate building land this - ' boird has from time to time impoverished its general aocount by transferring a sum .ol £6000 to the fund for building parposes ; thai notwithstanding this large ' transfer the board is now over £1000 in debt on the Building Account, and has not one penny wherewith to meet the ■ present urgent demandß and the claims which may be expected to arrive during 'the whole of tbe next year; and that a copy of the foregoing representations be —iilfrTHrf* t0 * he Premier and the Minister $rjor Education.
