DUNEDIN, November 30. The perpetual Trustee and Agency Company pay a dividend for the half year at a rate 12^ per cent per annum.

At a meeting ot the Chamber of Commerce, regret was expressed that New Zealand will not be represented at the Chicago Exhibition, but it was stated that a distinguished Amerioan was engaged procuring samples of wool to make a display on his own account. The charges against Atrey, Inspector of the Education Board, of having conducted an examination unskilfully, superficially, hurriedly, and unfairly, were enquired into by the board to-day, and a resolution was passed exonerating Airey, but expressing tbe opinion « that more time should have been allowed for examination.

Advices by Uvolu (arrived from Samoa) report everything quiet at Tutulia. Tbe recent disturbance appears to have been small, and concerning only two tribes. The Sarnoan land case, Cornwall and Mannema v. McArtbur and Co., has been settled out of court at Apia, McArthurand Co. paying £12,000 in settlement of all claims.
