DAIRY EXPORT.

The export of cheese for this season is just about to commence. We understand that the Cardiff factory is to be credited with turning out the first shipment of the season. A pretty lar^e parcel forwarded by Mr. Kowin was to leave Wellington by the Ruapehu to-day, and besides being the first of the season's make at this factory is, we believe, also the first to leave the colony. We hope that the results to cbeesemakers this season will be as satisfactory as those of last, in respect of tbe prices realised ; and tbe evidence that there is good reason for ' expecting this at least is corroborated by a communication received by Mr. Ritchie, Secretary for Agriculture, from Messrs. McNairn and Co., of Glasgow. This letter, the Wellington Post mentions, states that the outlook for New Zealand cheese in Scotland is more promising than ever, and they expected to realise during tbe season just about to commence when the mail left 59s to 80s for finest sorts. The letter further says tbat the writers bad been in communication with the

Agent-General and others respecting tbe redaction of butter and cbeese freights, and anticipated a material reduction mu'eb. earliei tban was generally expected. On the subject of adulteration Messrs. McNaun state tbat though they have bandied five- eighths of the New Zealand cheese m Scotland they bad not discovered a single case of adulteration, and they sincerely hope tbis state of things wji! continue, as upon tbe quality being maintained is dependent tbe retention of the high position which New Zealand dairy produce has obtained in the Scottish markets.
