EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd.) REPORT.
Hawera, November 4.
We held the opening sale in our new yards at Okaiawa, on Friday, the 28th ulfc., and it was a complete success throughout. A large number of buyers attended, and tiere was no lack of stock to offer them, our yarding accomodation being taxed to its utmost. The bidding was spirited and nearly every line of stock changed hands under the hammer before leaving the yards. We quote: forward bullocks, £5 19s; 2 to 3-year steers, £A 12s j 12 to 18months steers, £2, 13s j springers and cows and calves, to .£6 10s ,■ store cows, to £3 11s ; 18-months heifers, to £2 15s. At our monthly horse fair the draughts all found a ready sale at satisfactory prices, but owing to no outside buyers being present, the hacks met a slow sale, several useful ones being passed, though a great many horses changed hands at the following prices .- — Draughts and heavy cart horses, £12 5s to JJI7 ; trap horses, £8 2s 6d to £10 2s 6d ; medium hacks, £4 17s 6d to £12. «
We had a satisfactory sale in the Glover Road yards, on Wednesday, the 2nd inst. Scarcely any stock left the yards unsold. We quote : fat and forward bullocks to £6 2s ; 2to 21-year steers to JB4 ss ; 12 to 18raontha mixed csttle, 575 ; fat cows to £6 2s 6d,
