EGMONT FARMERS' UNION (Ltd.) REPORT.

Haweea, October 7. "* We have to report a very successful Clearing sale of stock, etc., that was held on Mr. J. L. |Perry's farm at Manaia, on Friday, the 30th ult. There were a large number of buyers present, some coming from a distance, no doubt in the hope of securing some of Mr. Perry's well-known flock of Lincoln sheep. The dairy cows offered were only a medium lot, but they averaged over £5 per head. Other lines Of cattle were of fairly good quality, and Bold readily at the following prices: —18months heifers, 535; 18-months steers, 695; cows in calf and with calves, £2 16s to M. The flock of Lincolns were divided into small lots to suit the convenience of purchasers, though we think in this way they sold to better advantage than they would otherwise have done; however, each lot offered were well competed for. and with, brisk bidding sold readily at the following average prices: —Ewe hoggets (85), 25s 6d; ewes and lambs (230), 275; xam hogget 3 (69), 41s. The three stud rams sold at the following prices :—The ■well-known champion Thombury, jßlßj stud ram, £6; stud ram, bred by Mr. J. L. Perry from 1 Thornbury, £1210s. All the farming implements, household furniture, &c, sold well. We held our fortnightly stock sale in the Glover-road yards, Hawera, on Wednesday, the sth inst. The number of stock yarded fell considerably short of what was advertised, and those that were in did not sell readily, owing to very high reserves placed on some of the lines, added to which the rather backward season and shortness of feed have made many would-be purchasers rather indifferent about buying 3ust now. We quote: forward bullocks, £5 to £5 12s 6d; 2£-year steers, £8 15s to £4 8s; 2-year steers, £3 9s to £3 13s; fat cows, £412s 6d to £6; cows in calf, £3 2s to £612s 6d; full-mouth ewea and lambs, 15s 3d.
