Stud Book.) Foul Shot is a beautiful dapple bay, with Mack points, and stands 16 bands 1 inch bigb. He is a powerful thoroughbred horse, with immense bone and muscle; has legs like bars of iron, with Dowerf ul quarters, and greatly resembles hia sire, Musket. PotTI. SHOT'S stock are allowed by competent judges to be the finest lot that have ever been seen on the coast, and hiß stock out of tboroaghbred mares are admitted to be equal to anything in New Zealand, either for good looks, size, or quality. Foul Shot started three times as a two-year-old. W^n the Welcome Stakes, and ran second to Thunderbolt for the Midsummer Stakes and New Year's Gift. Ab a three-year-old he won the Great Northern Derby— time, 2m. 40$s. —beating Stonyhurat ; and his next win was the Grand Stand Handicap. He also ran second to Derringer for the N.Z. Robert the Bruce, bred by Mr. James Petrie, Stirling, is a dapple bay; stands 17 hands high, with great bone and muscle, Bhort back, deep quarters, with great style and action. Robert the Bruce, by Auditor out of Blossom ; Auditor, bred by the Hon. M. Holmes, and got by Young Banker ; Auditor's dam, Pearl, bred by Mr. J. Harman, Victoria. Auditor, in 1681, at the Olutba Show, a o a three-year-old, gained the gold medal against all comers and the champion prize for the best horse on the ground. The same year, at Mataura Show, he gained two prizes, competing with aged horses, and a silver cup for the best three year old colt. At Mataura in 1883 be gained the silver cup. Auditor's dam, Pearl, by Hero (imp.), dam by Matchless (imp.). Pearl was a« great breeder; her daughter, Sapphire, was first at Dunedin and Oamaru three years in succession. Robert the Bruce's dam, Blossom, by Taieri Lad, bred by Messrs McDonald Brothers, Inch Clutha, out of Lucy, by Comet. Blossom, as a two year old in 1878, sained the silver medal as a first prize at the Clutha, and as a prize taker, was never beaten in local competition in the O'utha. Taieri Lad by Emperor; Emperor by Napoleon, imported from Scotland by the late J. Nimmo, Esq. i Comet was bred by the late J. Nimmo, Esq.; Comet's sire, The Marquis, imported from Victoria by the late Robert Miller; The Marquis' sire the renowned Prince Charlie. Comet's dam, Jean, imported from Scotland by tho late J. Nimmo, EBq. Jean was bred by Alexander Galbraith, Craigiecunahona, Killara, Stirlingshire ; Jean's sire, Justice, a famed prize winner. Joan's dam, Old Jean, the winner of over twenty first prizes, and was never beaten iv her day. Comet's dam took five first prizes before leaving Scotland, aud over twenty firsts m Otago ; she was only beaten once, by her own daughter. RbBEBT tiie Bruce, as a two yearold, took first at the Oluthaaad Mataura Straws .respectively. .In 1885 he took first prize at the, Waikouaiti; Royal Agricultural aud Pastoral Association's Show, and second at the Palmerston South Show the same year.
