A BID FOR HOSPITAL FUND.
A correspondent writes asking what has become of tbe fund gathered in aid of tbe election expenses of Mr. Bruce at the last election, He thinks some £60 or £70 was gathered in all. But the gentleman, for whom the money was subscribed, or rather contributed in aid of his eleotion expenses, refused to handle it. While appreciating the good intentions of the friendly donors, be would not think of handling the money or allowing it to be used in aid of any expenses incurred by him daring the course of the election. It may be our correspondent is uot quite correct in his recollections. This is a matter which can be easily explained by the committee who must have been formed to take charge of the fund. If it waß not used for eleotion purposes, it is suggested that it would make a nice addition to the Hospital Fund. In any case, if there is any such fund, unless handed back to tbe subscribers, it is considered juefc as well it should be publicly appropriated to some benevolent purpose. We only throw out this hint tbat tbe matter may either be ventilated or the money usefully applied.
