(from oujb own cobbespondent.) The s Board met on .< Monday last. Present~Messrs. D. McGregor (chair), Stit*. C. P. McGregor, S. Prpsser, and G. W. Rogers.'

Correspondence from Opunake Wharf Company with statement of expenditure, stating that £2308 bad been the coßt of construction of the jetty and approach. That £1100 was amount of subsidy received from the Government. That cost of approach road above high water mark was £256 : the proportion of subsidy to cost of making ,the approach road above high water mark was £122, leavmg £184 not subsidized.

Tenders for contract 98 : Laying about 15£ ohains kerbing and making footpaths. — R. Pepperell and Hanson, £29 7b, extra earth 7d, gravel Is 6d ; Harrison and 00., £29 15s, extra earth Is 6d, gravel per yard Is 6d. The first named was accepted. The Auditor-General having written stating that, if the Wharf Company hae spent that (£SO) or a larger sum in making a street, the re-payment of Buoh sum would be a legitimate expenditure of the board's funds. Auditor-General further statement that as the company had received a subsidy, the board could only pay the oompany if amount expended was over tbe £ for £ amount (viz., £2200). Beaolve'd unanimously, That the Wharf Company be paid a Bubsidy of £60 for oonstruoting the Wharf road. (Rogers— C. F. McGregor.) Resolved, That a lamp be prooored for the board's office. (Proseer— D. McGregor.) Resolved, That Costello and MoLeod be offered 12s to settle account in dispute. (D. MoGrregor— -Prosser.)
