CLIFTON V. STARS. THE STARS WIN THE CUP. This match being to decide which club should hold the Cap, created much interest, and was well attended, a special train having been run from New Plymouth. S. Humphries captained the Stars, and F. Bayly Clifton. Tbe heavier weight of the Clifton men at first told against the Stars. Tbe latter were first to score, A. Kivell, after a short dashing run, getting over the line, tbe try being converted by Kingsley. W. Bayly soon afterwards scored for Clifton, the kick at goal being abortive. After some brilliant play on both sides, Eingsley increased tbe Stars' eoore by a try, which was not converted. Tbe second spell produced some fine play, bat tbe scores were not addod to. The Stars left the ground victors by five points, the scores being 7—2.7 — 2. The Hawera team leave for Eltham to* morrow at 12.30 sharp in a four-in hand.
