Important to Native Leaseholders
(Special Telegram.), WELLINGTON, June 28. A good deal of pressure has been brought to bear on the Government with reference to the perpetual-lease clause of the Land Bill, and I am in a position to «ay that the matter has received oarefal consideration. Ministers say that Btriofc secrecy must be preserved as to the exact nature of the modifications under this head, but I am assured they will be snob that no settler will object to take up land under the conditions imposed, which. I presume, mean giving settlers in some form or another the option of acquiring the freehold. '
