A Drastic Anti-Chinese Measure

NEW YORK, April 1.
A petition bearing the signatures, of 400,000 Chinese residents in the United States has been forwarded to the Emperor of China requesting him to compel tbe TJnitPd States Government to remove tbe restrictions which they have plaoed on the Chinese,
WASHINGTON, April 5. The Honse of Representatives has, by a majority of 179 to 43, passed a bill, absolutely forbidding the ingress of the Chinese into the States.
The anti-Chinese bill jnst passed is of a moat drastic nature. The captains of vessels importing Chinamen are to be beld liable.
