The polioe do not believe Deeming was in Johannesburg at the time of the other murders. They also consider there is not the slightest grotfnd for the renewed stories connecting Deeming with the Whiteohapel murders or any event in England between his departure In 1888 and arrival in September, 1889. Many swindles in all parts of the country are wrongly attributed to him.
