NEW PLYMOUTH, June 18.

A house belonging to Mathew Hill, at Bill Block, was burnt down on Sunday morning. Mrs Hill had only time to save some bed clothes and her boy. The husband was away at Normanby. The house was insured for ;£SO in an office not yet known.

The s.s. Hawea has broken in two. The dismantled hulk is almost submerged in the harbor. The s.s. Penguin came in and went alongside the wharf as usual yesterday. Captain Holford, the harbormaster, leaves for Wellington on Wednesday to attend an official enquiry which will be held there. The vessel will be sold by auction.

THAMES, June 18. A bushman named Chas. O'Hagan, was found dead on the Tarara road yesterday morning. It is supposed that he committed suicide by taking rough-on-rats.
