TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

The LaD<3 Board met on Monday, 11th inßt. Present —The commissioner (in the chair), Messrs. Kelly and Livingston. APPLICATIONS TO CAPITALISE. The following applications to capitalise were received : —Joseph Wagstaff, blk. 2, sec. 8, Opunake ; Alex. McHarrie, blk. 10, sec. 48, Kaupokonni; John McHarrie, blk. 10, sec. 49, Kaupokonui; W. Harris, blk. 8, sec. 11, Kaupokouui; J. Laverty, blk. 7, sec. 8, Ngaire ; and J. Thompson, blk. 7, sec. 12, Ngaire. EXTENSION OF LICENSE. Collins, sec. 15, blk. 10, Huiroa. TRANSFER OF LEASE. Two applications for transfer of lease were agreed to —F. McGovern, section 61, block 10, Kaupokonui, to W. A. MeCufcchau; also section 62, block 10, Kaupokonui, to the same person. TRANSFER OF HOLDINGS. The following applications to transfer deferred payment lands were granted :—: — W. H. Lacey, section 41, block 4, Kaupokonui, W. H. and Henry Lacey ; Geo. Lovering, section 31, block 15, Kaupokonui, to G. J. Pearce; T. Walsh, section 621, Patea, to W. Walsh. REFUSAL TO TRANSFER. W. M. Sutton applied to transfer section 60, block 10, Kaupokonui, to Handy Sutton. The board refused to grant the transfer until he had complied with the first conditions of improvement. CHANGE OF TENURE. C. Melville applied to change the tenure of section 96, block 11, Kaupokonui, from perpetual lease to deferred payment. Agreed to. G. A. Hurley applied to lease unsold sections in block 3, Manaia. Granted. A REQUEST. The secretary of the Parihaka Road Board wrote, calling attention to the fact that the roail line in the bush on the Warea East Road is not yet felled, and that the settlers cannot get access to their land, and asking the board to try and get a grant from the Government for the purpose. If the road is not soon completed, the settlers will have to forfeit their sections. APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURE. The Patea West Road Board laid before the board a plan of pi'oposed expenditure of £'30. The Ranger reported that the work proposed to be done was a necessary one. as without it no access, except on foot, can be bad to tho various sections, and he would recommend tho Bchedule for approval, subject to it being modified by giving to the Kawaiti Road the money that belongs to it. I The board approved of the £8 10s being spent on the Kawaiti road, and the balance on the Makino road. A similar proposal ot expenditure was received from the Ngaire Road Board, to the amount of .£lB5 16s 2d. The Ranger recommended that the Road Board be requested to furnish a supplementary statement, showing how they proposed expending the amount; aDd also tbat they be requested to fell the portion of the Waiongona road, leading to section 47, block 4, Kaupokouni; a distance of three or four chains. It was resolved, That the Road Board be requested to expend £10 on clearing the Waiongona road, and that the rest of the schedule be approved <>f. A plan of proposed expenditure of the Hawera County Council, siniounting to £346 15s, was also received.
