WELLINGTON MARKETS.

George Thomas and Co. report produce prices without any material alteration since last quotations. We note that oats are somewhat weaker in the Australian markets, and no doubt this will have the effect of bringing quotations in New Zealand back to the old figures, we having given the opinion in our last that the increased values would not be long sustained. Pearl barley is somewhat scarce and firm at £20 per ton. Pollard and bran have advanted another 5s per ton all round. Other than the above there are no changes, and we quote stone flour, £8 10s ; roller ditto, JE9 Ss to £9 10» (sacks) ; pollard, £4> ; bran, JJ3 10s ; wheatmeal, £8 15s ; fowls' wheat, 2s 9d to 28 lOd (whole) ; short oats, 2s Id to 2s 2d j long and Danish, Is lOJd to 2s per bus ; oatmeal. £9 to .£9 53 ; straw chaff, JB3; sheaf do, JB4; feed barley, 2s lOd; maize, 3s lOd to 3s lid; Derwent potatoes, Oamaru, £2 15s, Blenheim £2 10s ; onions, best £4, 105, 2nd clas3 £3 ; rye grass seed, 3s 6d to 4s ; Italian ditto, 3s 6d ; cocksfoot, 3£d to 4d ; peas, 33 6d to 3s 9d ; garden ditto, 7s; split peas, 17s 6d per cwt; cheese, 4d to 4}d; ham 3 and bacon best factory, 7|d ; do. farmers' cure, 3d per lb ; honey, 4Jd to sd ; fresh butter, 6d to 7d ; salt ditto, 6Jd ; eggs, Is 8d per doz. The plentiful supply of game, &c, is interfering with the sale of poultry, and descriptions experience difficulty in moving quickly ; we quote — fowls 2s 6d, ducks 3s 6d, geese 5s 6d, and turkeyß 7s per pair. Prices for the stable lines of fruit now available, viz., apples and pears, are still on the lowest grades, apples from 3s and pears 7s upward respectively ; walnuts are plentiful at Gd ; quinces are now out of the market ; Island and Sydney oranges, at 7s per case, command but little attention ; we hope soon to see a revival in this branch of the produce business.
