WELLINGTON, February 21.
Mr. Seth Smith, R.M., Auckland, has been granted six months' leave of absence, and Dr. Giles, of Hokitika, will take his place. The Weal Coasb business will be worked for the present by two wardens — Major Keddell and Mr. Bird. Mr. Wardell, R.M., Wellington, will resign on pension, and his position has been offered to Mr. Robinson, of Oamarn.
CHRISTCHUKCH, February 18
A meeting of the representatives of tli9 minor racing clubs held to.-day, passed a resolution that "if the Canterbury Jockey Club persisted in asserting that they had the right to fix the amount of stakes at outside meetings, the outside clubs will form a Canterbury racing association."
