No horse may start that has over won public money, except as a hack, or so nominated, or has for six months previously been nominated for any other race than a hack race. The Maori races to be contested by horses the bonafide property of Maori owners, and trained and ridden by Maoris. No horse engaged in the other races will be allowed to run as a Maori hack. Nominations shall contain age, name, color, sex, pedigree, performances of horse, and name and colors of owner. No qualification fee required. Decision oi Stewards shall be final. Besides containing a directory of the cooit from Hew Plymouth to Wanganui, both inclusive, it has a much larger range of general information than any almanack we have examined this yemr.and, being pnblished at a shilling, deserves to have a wide sale.— Wanmnui Herald. We have to acknowledge the receipt of that excellent annual work, the Haweka Stab Almakack. It is replete as usual with valuable information carefully compiled and of a nature calculated to be most useful to the residents of the large district within which it circulates. The Almanack, which also contains an excellently-lithographed map of the Taranaki Provincial District, is splendid value, and a credit in every way to the office irom which it is isimod.— Wellington Press. We have to acknowledge the receipt of a copy of the Hawira Star Almanack. It is very neatly got up, and contains a fund of useful information.— We have to acknowledge the receipt of the Hawira Stax Almanack for 1888, which has been got up with its usual excellence and completeness. It contains a varied amount of general information and statistics, as well as a directory of the various centres of population in the provincial district. It will be found a useful book of reference for all classes of the community. — Taranaki News. We beg to acknowledge receipt of a copy of the Stab Almanack, Directory and Diary for the current year, published by Innes and Co., of the Hawera Star. It is a remarkably well got up volume, andshould be very useful to the West Coast settlers. —New Zealand Times. We have to acknowledge the receipt, from the proprietors, of the Hawera Star Almanack and Dibictort for 1888. It contains a directory of the district from New Plymouth to Wanganui, inclusive, and also a quantity of information which should be useful to families and others. It should command a ready sole, as the price is only one shilling.— Wanganui Chronicle. We have to acknowledge receipt of tho Hawera Stab Aut anack for 1888. This Almanack, which is now a well established book of referenco, contains a large amount of useful information.— Wellington Post. We have received a copy of tho Hawbra Star Almanack for 1888. It is a highly creditable publicatioa containing a large amount of useful infornation.— Eangitikei Advocate. One of the neatest and best got up book almanacks in the colony comes from Messrs. Innes and Co., o the Hawera and Normanby Star. It contains 256 pages of reading matter, including a directory o the Wett Coast of the North Island from Wanganu to Waitara, a distance of over 100 miles. There is also a valuable sketch map of the district, with Mount Egmont towering overhead, and a great variety of useful information. As a specimen o typography the Stab Almanack and Dirictobt will compare favorably with anything of the kind published in the Australian colonies, and it is to be hoped the enterprise of the publishers will be as sufficiently rewarded as it deserves to be.— Marlborough Express. riIARAXACUM AND PODOPHT.
