Geo. Young, clerk in the Bheep and rabbit inspector's office, committed suicide last evening by shooting himself^ He fired into bis mouth the bullet going into the skull. He left letters stating that he intended to kill himself. He leaves a wife and sis children at Home. His life | was insured for ;£700 ; monetary difficulties are the supposed cause. AUCKLAND, February 1. Hodgkins, who was injured at- the conclusion of the Takapuna, races on Saturday, died at the hospital to-day. , , A man, name unknown, was run over and killed at the Newmarket railway crossing. His legs vy ere torn" off; , and' his! skull fractured. It is surmised 'that he fell off the train,- but 'as yet ndthingis 1 known of the cause of the. accident.
