WELLINGTON, January 24. The Government have finally decided to sell the Ministerial residences, and tenders are called for their purchase. Tbe conference of the New Zealand Temperance Alliance has concluded its sittings. WEBTPORT, Janoary 25. A man, giving tbe name of John Gar. diner, was arreßted on tbe Boiler Eoad thirteen miles from Westport yesterday by Constable Borden, of Lvell. He is wanted for the sticking up case at tbe Birch Hill station, Marlborough. It is alleged that he entered the but of a man named Anderson, stole some money, and fired a revolver at Anderson. The prisoner answers the description, and admits being at the station on tbe day in question, but denies having bad any row there. He will be remanded to Blenheim.
