SUICIDE EXTRAORDINARY.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, January 14.

A gumdigger named George Brown committed suicide at Omoha Flat under very shocking circumstances. He gathered a quantity of combustible material inside his house; and, having built a fire, he spread a quantity of gunpowder and other explosives around, and lay down on the heap, after setting fire to it. A loud report was heard shortly afterwards by the neighbors, who observed that the house was in flames. The lifeless trunk of the Buicide was pulled from the burning ruins, the logs, arms, and head having been blown some considerable distance away.
