SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
♦ A serious accident happened to Mr. W. Hill, a settler near Otakeho, about 4 p.m. I yesterday. He was felling bush on the Auroa road when by some accident a tree | fell upon him. A heavy limb struck him across the brow, smashing parts of the frontal boue and crushing the bridge of the nose. Mr. Hill was brought into Hawera by Mr. Bartlett in a buggy and pair, and arrived here about 6.30. Dr. Chilton was soou in attendance on him, an & Sotoai that the bones of the face had been much broken and that one eye had been also injured. But tbe patient is doing very well, and the wounds have been dressed and stitched up.
