MR. McGUIRE'S SPEECH.

To the Editor of the Star.

Sir,— Alter an absence of two weeks, I naturally had a desire to hear Mr. MeGuire address the electors, and to that end attended his meeting at Nortoanby. As a result I was most agreeably surprised, for, instead of the hesitancy of * prentice hand, we had a masterly address delivered in stirring style, being evidtoot of oratorical excellence, with practice, in the early future. Mr. McGuire alto possesses true Irish wit, completely confounding some of tba^oeationers who have been dodging his steps at previous meetings by the splendid' manner in which he answered the quesfioos-tbey pat with the evideot object of enfrftppiDghim. Swerr. ing from the hurleyrbhrley of politic*, if, Sir, you think your readers, would be interested I shall be happy to give yon a few notes of my trip to the north of Auckland, also my opinions (tbe result of personal observation and close enquiry) on Mr. Ballaoce's much abused Village Settle* ment Scheme.— l am, &c,

Max. D. Euro. '

[We have no doubt oar readers woold be glad to read Mr. Kiog'i acooant of tht illago settlement*. — Ed.]
