In the Assembly tbis evening, Mr. Gillies, the Colonial Treasurer, delivered his Budget Statement. He congratulated the country upon the satisfactory state of tbe finances. The estimated revenue for tbe current year was £6,906,706, and expenditure £7,445,440, leaving with the present balance in hand a balance to 1888-89 of £105,8:10. Total amount expended on railways lo 30th June was £36.000,000, upon which '<H\ per cent, interest was realised. The proposed increase of duties on imported sugars and produce of sugar cane to 3s 6d per cwt., if bonded and refined in Victoria, 2s Gd per cwt., and on moist and other sugars 6s per cwt., is to come into effect on 27th July. The duty upon dressedj timbers would be variously increased, undressed timber, including Kauri, being admitted free. ADELAIDE, June 26.
