The Land Board met 00 Monday. DEFERRED PAYMENT. The application of E. Strawbridge, of Fielding, for section 2, block 15, Ngaire, on deferred payment was acceded to, tar upset price being £1. CAPITALISATIONS. The following, on applicants, wer». allowed to cnpitaliße : — C. Robinson, section 23, block 14, Ngaire; G. A. Paterson, sectiou 28, block 2, Huiroa ; and Leonz Mever, pec lion 10, block 7, Egmont. TRANSFER. C. F. Jorgensen, of Inglewood, applied to have deferred payment section 5, Egmont, transferred from himself to Franz Drjsdowski. Tno application was granted. SURRENDER, C. Kelly, of Hawera, tendered surrender of deferred payment section 6, block 8, Kanpokonui. The surrender was accepted. A BEQUEST. B. Dive wrote to the board as under in reference to two sections he holds in the Ngaire district: — "I am in receipt of license to occupy section 8, block 15, Ngaire (deferred payment), and as I am also lessee of section 7, block 15, Ngaire (perpetual lease), I beg to make the following application : — ' That (1), as I am residing with my parents, and the land being wholly covered with bush, the board dispense with personal residence foe the longest term the Act allows ; that (2), as I intend clearing forthwith the whole of section 7, the improvements proposed apply to both my holdings, and that the hoard will not treat it as a breach of the conditions under the grants made me to clear the land in this way.' " The Board decided, That the applicant, being resident with bis parents, be granted leave of absence from resideuce for three years — the longest term allowed under the perpetual lease system ; also, that, owing to the sections being held under different tenures, the application' as regards improvements cannot be acceded to. ANOTHER REQUEST. J. J. Connell, of Opunake, who forfeited recently section 4, block 13, Opunake, through failure to comply with conditions*, wrote to the. board as regardi the improvements he had effected on the section. He said that while he was in occupation of the section ho had paid £23 12s for rent, and had felled aa£* grassed 10 acres at a cost of £23 12k He was now threatened with proceedings for the recovery of .£17 145, rent due upon the section, which was now in the possession of the Crown, and would be re-let soon. He cqnsidered it unfair, therefore, that the in-coming lessee should have the benefit of his improvements without payment, and he begged to request that the value of such improvements be assessed, and the amount assessed be paid by the. next lessee. He then said that such improvements should be a set-off against the rent due by him to the Crown. H» I understood that improteniente wrap, allowed on forfeited deferred payment sections, and he hoped the same rule applied to perpetual lease — as in his case. The matter was referred to the Banger. INGLEWOOD. H. A. Haverbier, of Inglewood, applied to the board for assistance in getting to deferred payment section 9, block 1, Huiroa, held by him. The seetiqn is situated on ihe Kaiinate road. He wanted . to get on his section as soon as bis leave from it would expire, in October next, but if nothiug was done to the road he would not be able to shift bis goods and family to the section. The local board had been applied to, but had no mods for the. purpose. - * ' . It was resolved, That the applicant bf informed that the board has do funds available for opening up the Kaimateroad, but that the Moa Road Board have had notice that there is £59~th0 third of deferred payment money — available for expenditure upon this road, and a further sum of £25 will be available next month.. — Taranaki News.
