NEW ZEALAND TO WIT. IN THE MATTER OF A BILL TO ENABLE THE PATEA HARBOUR BOARD TO BORROW A FURTHER SUM OT £20,000, AND TO LEVY A RATE. NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to present to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the next Session thereof a Bill 1o be entitled, " The Patea Harbour Vnrlher Empoirerzng Act, 188?." By the said Bill it is intended to empower the Patea Harbour Board to borrow the sum of £20,000 for Harbour Improvements, and to levy a Eate over the Patea Harbour District of One Farthing in the Pound on the Rateable Value of all Rateable Property in the said District for pi'oviding security for the pajment of the Interest on such sum, viz., £20,000. By the said Bill it is provided that no such rate shall be levied until ihe consent of the Ratepayers in the said District shall have been obtained thereto by a Poll of such Ratepayers, to be taken in manner provided by the said Bill. The Patea Harbour District, as defined by the " Patea Harbour Board Act, 1885," consists of all that area in the Provincial Districts of Wellington and Taranaki, bounded towards the North-West by the New Plymouth Harbour Board Rating District, as described in the Second Schedule to "The New Plymouth Harbour Board Ordinance, 1870, Amendment Act, 1577,' 1 from the mouth of the AVaingongoro liiver to to the Wanganui River, thence towards the South-East by the Counties of Waitotara and Patea respectively to the source of the West branch of the Waitotara River, thence towards the East generally by the said Waitotara River to the Ocean, and thence towards the South-Westby the Ocean to the place o£ commencement.
