MELBOURNE, March 11.

The business of Jas. McEwan and Co.. ironmongers, of Melbourne, is being floated as a limited liability company on the London market.

HOBART, March 10.

The Shaw-Saville steamship Doric arrived this morning from Plymouth. Among the yassengers were Sir R. G. C. Hamilton, the new Governor of Tasmania, and family. His Excellency was met on arrival by the Premier and other Ministers, the bishops and clergy, and other prominent citizens. The swearing in takes place this afternoon.

Mr. Bowman, an exhibition expert, states that Adelaide wool at the Indian and Colonial Exhibition was most tastefully and affectively arranged, and praises the model sheep exhibits. New Zealand wool was first-class, and the classification of it most scientific. Victorian exhibits were splendid, the fineness, length of staple, and softness of lustre causing it to occupy first place in the Exhibition. The New South Wales collection was of a very high class. The standard of [Queensland wools was generally very good, some samples being of exceptional beauty.
