(from a correspondent.) A meeting of the Parihaka Road Board was held to-day. There were present — Messrs. Anderson, Jeffries, Stevenson, and Chapman. Minutes read and confirmed. Inward correspondence read from — Property Tax Department, Survey,' Department, Treasury, Newman Bros., G. W. Gane, Waste Lauds, H. R. Richmond, aud De G. Fraser. Outward — Bank of New Zealand, Survey, Sperry, McAlister, County Couucil, Whitcombe, Cronjbie, Treasury, Murray Thomson, Malcombe, and Crown Lands Ranger, The board has changed the days of meetings to the second Tuesday in dach alternate month, but J must say that two months is too long, unless the eqgme'er is allowed to expend a Btnall sum on repairs which are urgently needed. There was a little hole wearing for nearly'six weeks on the Manihi road, but nothing was done towards repairing it, Now vehicles cut right through the metal *nd about a foot into the earth, causing them to be stuck, but nothing was done until the board authorised the engineer to repair it. It is to be hoped it will not be allowed to get worse, Tli3 following is a copy of a letter received by the board from tue Chief Surveyor :—": — " In a report of a meeting of the Road Board which appeared in the Taranaki Herald, it was stated that Mr. Breach had affirmed that the two ronds were not legally taken through his property. I have thought it ri«ht to inform you tbat the statement i« incorrect. The two sections were granted with an area of 35 acres allowance for right of taking two roads through. Subsequently the roads were surveyed, proclaimed, and registered in the registery office, before the time allowed by the Crown Grants Act had expired. The two roads took slightly under 18.$ acres, so that Mr. Breach was a gainer of 16A acres. Date of issue of firat earliest grant, December 27, 1869 ; Date of proclamation, December 26, 1874. — T. Humphries." Resolved, That Mr. Humphries' letter, lie on the table. Resolved, That the engineer get the Manaia road repaired. - ■ The engineer's report was. read and' adopted. .. • ' Resolved, That notice be /sent tio'tihe members of the board notifyipg that the resolution passed at the annual 'meeting will be considered at next meeting.'
