FOOTBALL.

*. The general meeting of the Football Club was held at Cook s hotel on Saturday evening, About 20 members being present. Mr. Riddiford in the chair. Mr. G. T. Bayly was re-elected captain, and Mr. Ma;jor secretary. In choosing a committee, the chairman urged the members to elect those who would pull together and work hard for the benefit of the club. A ballot being taken, Messrs. S. Adamson, Tonks, Lysagbt, White, and G. Willy, were elected committeemen. Saturday next was appointed for the first practice. Matches will be arranged between Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Waitara, Patea and Parihaka, and it is also intended to send a team to Nelson and Wellington during the coming season. Ifc is hoped that all players will do their best to attend practices, for if the Hawera colors are to be in the ascendant, nothing but assiduous practice will secure this, as the club will meet " f oemt n worthy of their steel." _____^____________
