LOCAL INDUSTRIES.

Mr. C. D. Whitcombe, Commissioner of Crown Lands, New Plymouth, has communicated to Mr. T. Mackay, Reserves Trustee, that a meeting will be held at the Crown Lands Office, New Plymouth, on Wednesday, the 9th iust., at 11 a.m., of any persons interested in sericulture, viticulture (grape-Krowing), cultivation of olive, and other sub- tropical industries, to confer with Mr. Federli, who has, by direction of the Government, been lately travelling through the Auckland district on a similar mission. Mr. Whitcombe also makes an announcement on the subject in our advertising columns. We would strongly recommend all persons who may be desirous ol fostering, or embarking in, such industries in this district to avail themselves of so good an opportunity of learning how to go about the proper methods of starting and workiug them from an acknowledged expert such as Mr. Federli.
