RIFLE MATCH.

MARRIED V. SINGLE. Tlie T*"-'rd contest between these teams, in corfction with the Hawera Rifles, took prace at the butts on Saturday last. The shooting at the 200 and 300 yards ranges may be considered very creditable, but at the 400 yards rango there appeared to be a great falling off, particularly in the married team. The single team won by 2G points, the scores beiug single, 515 ; married, 489 points. In the two previous matches the married team won, the first match by 7 points, and the second by 25 points. The marking, undertaken by Volunteer Luff, with Lieut. Dixon as referee, gave general satisfaction. The following are the scores : —

The dinner in connection with tuo above will take place to-morrow evening, nt Owen's Hotel, where no doubt ample justice will be done to the repast, usually provided by that gentleman on such occasions. Several non-competitors have been invited. j
